There’s plenty of NHL action on Tuesday with six games on the schedule. Below are some of my favorite picks and shot props. If you’re looking for more bets this season, check out the FTN Bet Tracker on FTNBets.com.

Montreal Canadiens -222 (DraftKings) with the Ottawa Senators +195 (WilliamHill) – 6

The Ottawa Senators are heavy home dogs who have managed the Montreal Canadiens to win two out of three against the Habs this season. They’re fresh from a 3-2 win in extra time on Sunday. Their only loss to Montreal was a 2-1 loss, but they were 35-32 ahead.

The Canadians started the season with wins in five of their first seven games, with at least a point in all seven, but they will enter the matchup on Tuesday after losing four of five and five of seven. They shouldn’t be -222 favorites in this competition as they have scored three or fewer goals in seven straight games.

The Senators are a competitive team and having hung out with Montreal I think taking them at +1.5 at -130 (WilliamHill) is certainly in the game. If you lose by one goal, you still win the bet. The best bet in the competition is to consider the Habs’ offensive battles lately mixed with the 2.35 goals per game from Sens, 28th in the NHL.

Prediction: 3-2, Montreal

Best bet: Under 6

Prop Bet: Tyler Toffoli OVER 2.5 SOG

Pittsburgh Penguins +100 (DraftKings) in Washington Capitals -115 (FanDuel) – 6.5

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals are playing for the fifth time this season, and this is the first of two straight games between the two teams. The pens attended the first three meetings, with all three sailing over the number. Washington won the last game 3-1. Without Tristan Jarry’s 39 saves, that number would probably have been exceeded as well.

These two teams have played to the end in seven of their last eight games, so the final game feels like an outlier. The gate light always seems to work when Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin compete against each other. Both Washington and Pittsburgh are in the top 10 allowed goals at 5 against 5 per 60 minutes, according to the Natural Stat Trick. They also rank in the top 10 goals for 5 on 5. Nine of Pittsburgh’s 16 games have topped the total, and Washington has ended up in 12 of its 17 games this season.

Forecast: 4-3, Washington

Best bet: over 6.5

Prop: Alex Ovechkin OVER 3.5 SOG & Bryan Rust OVER 2.5 SOG
