After 11 games in the NHL on Sunday, the schedule on Monday is easy as we only have one game. The 1-3-1 Ottawa Senators play in the west against the 2-5 Vancouver Canucks. This is the first of three face-to-face meetings between these two teams, and both are busy in the North Division.
Below are some of my favorite Monday bets. If you’re looking for more bets this season, check out the FTN Bet Tracker on FTNBets.com
Ottawa Senators +132 (DraftKings) at Vancouver Canucks -149 (William Hill) – 6.5 goals
Both teams have got off to a brutal start as the Canucks only have two wins and have lost five of their last six. The Senators lose four games after winning their season opener.
One of those teams will end its losing streak and I think it will be the Canucks, but the over at 6.5 is the strongest game on the board. Ottawa finished three of its five games and Vancouver finished four games in a row. I expect that trend will continue with the Canucks as they posted a league high of 4.71 goals per game. They have scored at least five goals in four straight games and allowed 17 in their three-game streak with the Montreal Canadiens. Ottawa has scored the third highest goals per game this season (4.00). Both are also in the top 10 shots allowed per game.
Forecast: 5-3, Vancouver
Best bid: About 6.5
Bo Horvat OVER 2.5 SHOTS -114 (DraftKings)
Horvat has five goals at team level and leads everyone forward with 20 shots. Quinn Hughes has 21 and I like the over on his 1.5 round prop, but it’s juiced at -215. Horvat was promoted to the top line in Vancouver’s last game with JT Miller and Brock Boeser, which is great for Horvat’s game. He also leads all Vancouver forward in the Ice Age per game (19:25). The Senators admitted the ninth most shots per 60 minutes at 5 against 5.
