Being a mom is a 24/7 job. Yet most mothers have many other “full-time jobs” to do, from careers and community engagement to caring for parents and loved ones. Between taking care of everyone else, it’s just amazing how mom can do all of this and at the same time fit into fitness. In honor of all of your great supermoms, we asked some of our favorite moms to share their best advice on staying fit and raising healthy families. We hope these tips will help you! Lead by example. “As the stepmother of four beautiful children, I am an active example of healthy living and clean eating for my children. My husband Justin Dees is not only a bodybuilder himself, but also a personal trainer and studied movement physiology. Our children have always understood the concept of clean eating and active action. “
Teach your family nutritional principles and fill the house with goodies. “We enjoy meals made with healthy proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. Teaching them the difference between nutritious, healthy meals with proper macronutrients is exciting for them, as I know it will have long-term life benefits and hopefully alleviate any health problems that come from poor diet. So far they love my cooking. There are the occasional goodies in our house, but we keep almost everything, even snacks, nutritious and clean. “
Make fitness a family activity. “All four of our children are very active and sporty. Our 15 year old daughter loves when her dad trains her in the gym and is always ready to jump on cardio next to me! The kids are great cheerleaders who help and encourage us to prepare for competitions / shows! Finding the balance between family and competition is a matter of course for Justine and me. We love a fulfilling family life and an active, healthy career! “

Keep it simple “My mother taught me a saying that fits my working mom lifestyle perfectly. She always told me (and still does), “Just keep it stupid.” It’s not defeat, just a saying and a wonderful mantra to get you through a busy life. For example, family meals are super important, but difficult when mom and dad work long hours. Bringing in food from a restaurant is not always the healthiest option and can be expensive. Sometimes even walking to the supermarket is difficult after a long day. Instead:
– Opt to fill your freezer with plenty of frozen vegetables and lean meat.
– Combine the ingredients in a large frying pan with olive oil and the spices of your choice. You can easily cook as a pan, grill, place over whole wheat pasta – the sky is the limit.
– Combining red sauce with ground turkey can result in a delicious Bolognese sauce!
This will keep the kids happy, it is easy to prepare, it will keep in your freezer for a long time, and it will make for a delicious healthy meal that is sure to please people of all ages. “

Make fitness fun and tasty. “As a young mother, I look forward to teaching my son all of the things I’ve learned about health and fitness. The biggest thing I want to convey is that fitness is fun and healthy and delicious! I believe the best way to teach is to lead by example. Balancing a healthy life with parenting, career, and all of life’s other demands can be challenging, but where there’s a will, there’s a way! “
Do at least 1 thing for YOU every day. “Some mothers feel“ selfish ”for taking time out of their busy day, but I wholeheartedly believe that taking this time for HER is selfless! When you come into this “time for yourself” you are a better you and therefore a better mother, wife, friend, etc. No matter how little time it is, I try to do something for myself every day. It could just be a simple home workout that includes pushups, sit ups, and squats. “
Bring your child. “Another tip that we have found helpful in our family is that our son fit into our healthy lifestyle. If we want to go for a walk, we take it with us. When I want to train, I wear my Moby and train with it. Not only can I do something, we can have a good time together and as a family! “

“Hello, beautiful mothers. We all know that dieting and having a young child who loves food and treats is not easy. We need to make sure everyone is happy so naturally we need to find a balance or how to avoid cheating while dieting. 😉 I have some tips that work for me and I would love to share them with all of you. Happy Mother’s Day!”
“Never go grocery shopping hungry. No no no. Before you get out, make sure you eat your meal and then leave. “This will deter you from buying too many of these little ones goodies that might tempt you while dieting.
Eat before you feed your Lil One to avoid temptation. “For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, make sure you eat first because the foods you need to cook your loved ones will smell so lovely. I usually make them pancakes, eggs, and turkey bacon for breakfast. Yum. “
Pack food for trips. My daughter likes to go to the park, to the movies, to the beach, etc. So, wherever we go, I make sure I pack her a healthy lunch and bring all of my food with me. I know she’s going to want ice cream, popcorn, or cupcakes, so I don’t want her to eat badly all day. That’s why I bring her healthy snacks like yogurt and fruit.

“I am a wife of IFBB Professional Bodybuilder Brandon Curry and a proud mother of Zoey (8 years), Maximus (3 years) and Marvelous (1 year)… and I am currently 4 months pregnant with baby number 4! About seven months after my second baby, I became an IFBB professional. My husband travels for most of the year in competition, doing seminars, gigs, posing as a guest, etc., so I take most of the responsibility for the children. I also coach and train clients on a daily basis while I bring my two youngest to work with me. My husband and I sponsor the annual NPC Music City Muscle in Nashville, TN every October. My husband and I are very involved in everything we do, from athletes, coaches, promoters, and most importantly, parents. “
Run the run. “I firmly believe that our children are imitators of us. In fact, they are a MIRROR of us … how we eat, talk, act, good or bad habits, what we believe … you name it. So … what we eat and how we see things becomes the way our children eat and see things – no matter how old they are. If you enjoy eating healthy foods (and I’ve found that fruits and vegetables are easiest for kids to start with), your kids are more likely to enjoy them, too. If you look like you’re scared of eating your healthy food, chances are you will want to avoid it, and fear it too … so make it look attractive. “
Don’t be scared of food and explain the nutritional benefits. “Talk to your children about WHY you eat healthy. Not because it doesn’t make you fat … that will just create a food fear for your children. Instead, explain the benefits of each food when you consume it. For example, if you eat cereals or potatoes and vegetables, explain that they contain fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Fruits also contain a lot of fiber and vitamins that our bodies need to function. Children ALWAYS love PROTEIN once they understand what protein is and does. Most kids like superheroes and enjoy the idea of having a little muscle. Feeling strong makes a child stronger. Exercising their minds prepares our children for success in their decision making. Don’t make it seem restrictive, but then show off all the myriad options they have. “
Keep your sanity by involving children in activity. “Sometimes it can be a challenge to have a man who is out of town a lot. Being pregnant, having 3 other kids (two of them staying with me or wherever I go) and running my own business … how do I deal with it? I find that the more active and committed I keep the children, the better the balance between them and their energy. And the less trash I give them, the better they behave because they don’t have pent-up energy. So exercise and healthy eating habits not only keep them in a healthy weight range and make them less sick because they have a stronger immune system, but it also helps them behave better !!! “
Have a routine, create games from assignments, and teach. “Keep them on a consistent routine! Children like routine believe it or not! Of course they enjoy something new from time to time, but it’s a lot less stressful for mom and the kids and a lot less messy! And when you make it all a game or a challenge, even the most dreaded tasks become fun and enjoyable – from making beds to brushing your teeth to putting dishes in the sink. Remember, as parents, we are teachers. This takes one of my favorite Bible verses to a whole new level. Proverbs 22: 6 says: “Raise a child the way it should be. And when it’s old, it won’t deviate from it. “
