LYNN HAVEN, Fla. (WMBB) – The Bay County Motorcycle Foundation hosted their 6th Annual Dylan Corbin Memorial Poker Run on Saturday.

Motorcycle groups from across Bay County gathered to honor the life of Dylan Corbin and to raise funds for JROTC programs in the county.

Corbin was 19 years old when he died in 2015 as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Event organizers said when his parents heard how underfunded JROTC programs were in the county, they wanted the Bay County Motorcycle Foundation’s Memorial Poker run to benefit those programs.

“It’s amazing like ours [J]ROTCs here in Bay County aren’t very well funded, ”said Josie Ferraioli, owner of the Biker Bulletin Board. “I mean back then, Deane Bozeman’s army [J]ROTC, they didn’t have uniforms or anything, so the funds help them. “

Not only does the money help the programs, it also provides scholarships for selected seniors in JROTC.

“It covers a good amount of money,” said Cadet Major Nikita Paskevic. “I mean, it’s a lot of money and college isn’t cheap, as many people know. I think the cadets who have received this scholarship are so deeply grateful.”

Ferraioli said that many members of the biking community are veterans who make this thing their hearts.

“This is our future, these are our children, these are our students and they will be our future, so we want to help them,” said Ferraioli.

Ferraioli said they faced several challenges over the past six years with Hurricane Michael and the coronavirus pandemic.

“But we are bikers again and we promise something that we will manage,” said Ferraioli. “And here we are. It doesn’t stop us. No hurricanes, no COVID, we will still host this event and raise money for our students.”

Ferraioli said they typically raised an average of $ 5,000 and hope to break that record this year. If you’re interested in making a donation, contact Josie Ferraioli at [email protected]
